Amazon in Australia
Amazon is used all around the world.
It has a huge customer base of over 300 million active partners.
And now it's set up camp on Australian shores.
Whether it's goods, services, or a Pup-A-Razzi Silver Screen Starlet Dog Costume (yes, it's a thing) if you can buy it, Amazon can sell it.
Australian retailers have been able to sell on Amazon for a while now, but the company has finally launched it's Australian operations and will expand the local online product range to more than 20 consumer categories.
This is big news for Australian retail; both in the online world and brick-and-mortar shops.
According to a statement made to SBS News by Australian Retailers Association executive director Russell Zimmerman, retailers will have to adapt to the changing market conditions posed by online retailers such as Amazon.
"We are seeing lots more retailers who are engaging via online rather than being just bricks and mortar retailer," he said.
"If you believe you can sell online then you should engage with an online platform - whether that's Amazon if that's what suits you that's great, otherwise you may use your own platform.
"At the end of the day Amazon is here, it's good news, and it's great for retailers."
